Description
An extraordinary and rare matched 1st edition pair of Pierre Paulin’s iconic Ribbon chairs for Artifort dating to 1967. These sculptural masterpieces retain their original psychedelic Jack Lenor Larsen upholstery—a vibrant textile that perfectly captures the avant-garde spirit of the era. Each chair is signed with the Turner Limited foil label and the original manufacturer’s fabric label: “Artifort: made in the netherlands.”
Paulin’s Ribbon chair is celebrated for its fluid, biomorphic form and ergonomic comfort, merging technical innovation with poetic design. As Paulin himself once said, “My work is at the junction of technique and a bit of poetry.”
This pair offers museum-worthy provenance and is ideal for collectors seeking authentic mid-century artistry with bold visual impact. As with most of Artifort's early production pieces, the injection molded foam rubber has began to harden over the years but it effortlessly keeps its original form and the seat itself is still resilient enough to use regularly. These chairs provide support to the body in all the right places and are amazingly one of the most comfortable lounges ever made. -
