This exceptional example, produced by AP Stolen in Denmark, has been meticulously restored and reupholstered in rich oxblood red leather, lending a sophisticated edge to its timeless silhouette. The chair’s solid Afromosia legs and hand-carved teak “paws” are beautifully refinished, adding warmth and contrast to the deep, luxurious leather. Accompanying the chair is its matching ottoman.

The Papa Bear Chair Story

Also known as the Teddy Bear Chair, the Papa Bear was designed by Hans Wegner in 1951. Its name comes from its embracing armrests, which curve around the sitter much like a bear’s protective paws. The angled seat and high, gently reclined backrest create a seating experience that is both supportive and luxuriously relaxed.
