This rare pair of armchairs was produced in Italy in the late 1950s. The design is attributed to the Italian group of designers known as Studio BBPR, which included Gian Luigi Banfi, Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti, and Ernesto Nathan Rogers.
The striking design is defined by the rectangular, geometric lines of the sides and the square shape of the legs. The frames are crafted from solid mahogany, while the exterior sides are covered in cane, adding a refined element of craftsmanship to the design. The chairs are upholstered in a white bouclé fabric, offering a pleasing contrast to the warm tones of the wood.
The pair is in very good, restored condition, with only minor signs of wear consistent with age and use.
