Description
This exceptional pair of floor lamps was produced by Falkenbergs Belysning in Sweden during the 1950s. Each lamp is marked with the manufacturer’s initials, “FLB,” followed by the model number on the brass shade holder.
The design features a black lacquered iron frame, supported by two legs ending in an organically shaped, oval foot. Mounted on the metal base is a tapered handle crafted from solid elm wood, adding warmth and a tactile contrast to the structure. A single brass arm extends from the base and can be adjusted to various angles, positions, and heights. The brass shade holder, perforated at the lower end, is also adjustable, while a black turn knob allows for easy switching on and off. The empire-shaped shades, made from natural rattan, can be tilted to direct the light as desired.
The height of each lamp can be adjusted from 114 cm (approximately 44.9 inches) at the lowest position to 143 cm (approximately 56.3 inches) at the highest. The two lamps have small variations in the shape of their adjustment mechanisms. These may be noticeable when the lamps are positioned closely next to each other, but they are not visually distracting.
Both lamps remain in very good original condition, with the brass displaying a natural and even patina consistent with age. They are currently wired for 220V European use. -
