This stunning model “542” glass table lamp was designed in 1939 and produced by Boréns throughout the 1940s. The model reflects the company’s reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and elegant design, showcasing their incredible decorative glass work. Boréns, established in 1924, was one of Sweden’s leading lighting manufacturers in the mid-20th century, known for combining refined artistry with modern practicality, creating pieces that elevated everyday interiors while staying rooted in functionality.

The lamp’s base is composed of richly textured glass, its rounded shape featuring organic relief patterns catch and refract light even when unlit. The floral surface decoration, with its delicate leaves and petals gives the piece a tactile quality. The most unique feature of this lamp is the two bulb system, one being placed under the shade, in a traditional manner, while the other is placed in the body, allowing for the glass to cast a warm glow, increasing the visual appeal. The bulbs can be turned on independently, offering various options of brightness intensity and underlining the functional aspect of Scandinavian lighting. Resting above the body is a conical fabric shade, carefully proportioned to balance the rounded base and diffuse light with a gentle, atmospheric glow.
