Description
Absolute stunning black early 20th century armchair from the famous "Vienna secession" period around 1910 in Austria. This rare, architectural Art Nouveau armchair - attributed to the school of Josef Hoffmann - is a perfect example of the so-called "austere Art Nouveau" style, which became popular around the turn of the century and distinguished itself from the purely organic, flowing forms. It was not a separate movement, but a term for the more moderate, geometric variant of Art Nouveau and was a very significant development towards modern architecture, which later prevailed. A timless designed, still modern looking armchair/ club chair which impresses with its exceptional design: clear, straight lines, fantastic set brass-clad columns and an amazing looking upholstery in this special yellow/ orange, textured Backhausen fabric. On request/ additional costs, we can also re-upholster it in your favorite color and fabric. The armchair has undergone a complete restoration already back in the 90s and comes in absolute great "ready to use" condition with minimal signs of use & age. A remarkable 20th century Viennese secesssion black armchair - not only a true eyecatching piece of Art Nouveau furniture but also super comfortable to sit.
PLEASE NOTE: in case you love this style, we would also have the matching 2-seater sofa/ armchair - Ref. ID: VS-AC2. -
