Set of Six Wall Appliques in the Style of Carlo Nason, Italy 1970s
-
Description
An interplay of light and texture defines this set of wall appliques, crafted in the spirit of Carlo Nason’s celebrated Murano glass designs from the 1970s. Their fluid contours and amber-toned translucency echo the expressive language of Italian lighting design of the post-war decades.
Design
Each applique features a hand-formed glass shade in a palette of amber and clear, embedded with organic bubbles and subtle surface irregularities. The glass curves slightly forward and is held in place by a brushed metal frame that contrasts with the warmth of the glass. When lit, the internal textures catch and scatter light, producing a soft, molten glow. The style recalls the sculptural sensibility of Carlo Nason's work for Mazzega, where technical glassblowing met a modernist visual language. Though unmarked, the workmanship and materials suggest production in the Venetian tradition. The brushed steel wall plates have been carefully restored, offering a refreshed look without overpowering the original glass elements. The set’s versatility allows for uniform installation or creative arrangements.
A sculptural lighting ensemble of six, these appliques combine mid-century Italian elegance with a revived structural clarity.
Condition
Condition is very good. The metal elements have been restored, while the glass retains its original character with light traces of age, preserving its authentic presence. -
