A finely proportioned pair of French bergères dating to circa 1830, reflecting the continued refinement of late Empire to early Restoration seating. Each chair features a generously shaped upholstered back and deep seat, designed for comfort while maintaining a dignified architectural presence. The solid wood frames are carved with restrained classical detailing, including molded arms and turned, tapered legs that emphasize vertical balance and symmetry.

The bergères retain their original form and structure, with upholstery showing age-appropriate wear consistent with their early 19th-century origin. The exposed wood surfaces display a warm, naturally aged patina that enhances the clarity of the carving and the authenticity of the pair. The wide seats and enveloping sides create a sense of enclosure typical of the bergère form, originally intended for salon use.

Well suited for reupholstery or preservation as-is, this pair offers both historical character and versatility. An elegant seating ensemble appropriate for a living room, library, or bedroom interior.
