Description
Nora Schnitzler was a Dutch Artist, illustrator, and children's book author born and raised in Amsterdam. Her pseudonym was Enni van Laer. In the present work, we see a charming young red-headed girl with a large ornate hat on her arm being greeted by two humble gnomes who bow to her in a synchronized way. The scene is set on a stage-like space with a balustrade and floral elements forming the background. It's carefully rendered in a linear style, filled with subtle color, and features a running floral scroll as a border that contains a harmoniously crafted composition. The work was most likely done as an assignment for a children's fairytale book. unsigned. matted but not framed. Toned, creasing, and handling wear, but in very good condition. Mat size 12" x 12". Publisher's label on verso. Schnitzler's work rarely comes on the market.
