This floor lamp is a refined example of Italian mid-20th-century design, characterised by a sober and elegant architectural presence. The composition is organised around a tall, slender vertical glass column, resting on a circular glass base and surmounted by a wide, shallow bowl-shaped diffuser. The overall silhouette is balanced and harmonious, emphasising verticality while maintaining a light and unobtrusive visual impact.
The design subtly reinterprets the classical torchère typology through a restrained modern language, defined by clean geometry and carefully studied proportions. The absence of overt ornament allows the purity of form and the interplay of materials to take precedence, resulting in a piece that functions both as ambient lighting and as a discreet architectural element within the space.
Executed in glass and brass, the lamp displays a refined contrast between transparency and warm metallic tones. The transparent glass structure lends lightness and continuity, while the brass elements articulate the junctions between base, stem, and diffuser. The frosted glass shade diffuses the light softly and evenly, reinforcing the lamp’s understated and atmospheric character.
Produced in Italy in the mid–late 20th century, the lamp is attributed to Luigi Brusotti, whose work reflects a measured balance between classical references and modern sensibility.
The lamp is in very good condition and retains its original electrical system. The structure is sound and well preserved, with glass elements intact and brass components showing a consistent surface patina. Rewiring according to US standards can be carried out upon request. Minor signs of wear consistent with age and use are present and should be considered normal.
