Description
A striking Swedish demi-lune console from circa 1880, painted in a deep, dramatic tone that lends a sense of gravity and sophistication to its neoclassical form. This console features a semi-circular top supported by four elegant tapered legs, with the front legs carved with fluting and crowned with stylized square rosettes. The apron showcases a rhythmic pattern of carved detailing, adding texture and depth to the restrained design.
The later painted finish enhances the sculptural quality of the carving, offering a bold contrast to the typical light tones associated with Gustavian furniture. Its scale and versatility make it suitable as a statement piece in an entryway, dining room, or salon, whether used alone or paired with complementary furnishings.
Timeless yet distinctive, this demi-lune embodies both the classical inspiration of Gustavian design and the adaptability that makes Swedish antiques highly sought after. -
