Description
The Ultimate Mid-Century Multitasker
Few designers understood the evolving needs of the modern American home like Edward Wormley. Designed circa 1948, the Model 4856 "Snack Table" Floor Lamp is a masterclass in functional elegance. It’s not just a lighting element; it’s a dedicated companion for your favorite lounge chair, offering a sophisticated surface for a cocktail or a book without the footprint of a traditional side table.
Exceptional Craftsmanship & Materials
This rare hybrid piece features a slender, tapered walnut stem that transitions seamlessly into a stunning 25-inch round tabletop. The surface is a highlight of Dunbar’s woodworking prowess, featuring rich walnut accented by intricate birch burl wood inserts. The entire wood assembly has been treated to a beautiful clear finish that glows under the light it provides.
Atomic-Era Details
The lamp is anchored by a solid brass tripod base, providing a sturdy yet visually light foundation. Moving up, the solid brass double Edison swivel sockets and lamp cluster allow for directional light control, accented by classic pull chains and a distinctive brass finial. We’ve ensured this piece is ready for the modern home with a fresh, period-correct brown nylon cord.
