Description
Origin: Delft
Date: 1700 - 17290
Two Dutch Delft so-called knobbelvazen, knob vases (baluster vases) with a decoration of cupids flying over a bed of flowers.
These vases were probably made by the Kam family. The Kam family owned multiple workshops of many generations in the city of Delft. They developed a style of their own during this period. Much of their work is completely covered with painted sprays of flowers, birds, and cupids in all sorts of variations. This style of painting was used in Delft for many years. Executed by master painters in a blue on a tin-glazed white ground. Many of these vases would have been made, but needless to say, very few of these pieces have survived the ages.
Note - the vases are not completely straight. -
