Description
Brass desk paperweight by Werkstätten Carl Auböck, preserved in its original wooden presentation box printed “la plume de ma tante.” The object is formed as a long, faceted shaft with a tapered point and a rounded weighted end, giving it a strong sculptural presence while functioning as a desk weight. The polished brass surface contrasts with the simple wooden box, reflecting the Auböck workshop’s characteristic balance of humor, utility, and refined material. The clear geometric form and solid construction are typical of mid-century Viennese design, where everyday desk objects were treated as small sculptures. Stamped Auböck – Made in Austria; light patina and wear consistent with age, box with minor signs of use. The measurements given apply to the paperweight, the box measures: 18.5 / 3 / 3 cm.
