Description
A captivating pair of theatrical papier-mâché figures, each standing in a poised, lantern-bearing stance, richly adorned in draped silvered garments with gilt accents. Their expressive, wide-eyed faces—finished in luminous tones with striking blue glass eyes—lend a sense of animation and narrative, as though lifted directly from a fantastical stage or courtly procession.
Each figure is dressed in elaborately modeled costume: voluminous tunics with gathered folds, trimmed in gold braid, paired with fitted leggings and stylized boots. Their turbanned headdresses and hand-on-hip poses enhance the sense of movement and personality, evoking influences from commedia dell’arte, Moorish pageantry, or 19th-century theatrical décor.
They each grasp a slender gilt pole surmounted by a brass and glass lantern, introducing both height and vertical elegance while providing functional illumination. The warm metallic tones of the lanterns complement the cooler silvered garments, creating a striking visual contrast.
Mounted on rectangular bases, the figures possess a strong sculptural presence, equally suited for flanking an entryway, anchoring a grand interior, or serving as dramatic focal points in a curated space. -
