Description
David Howard Illustrated Chinese Export Armorial Porcelain Bowl, Munro and Poyntz. Circa 1765, floral sprays flanking arms of Munro impaling Poyntz with Munro Motto "Dread God", interior with gilt spearhead border to rim. Provenance: The Carsten Fourshou Collection; Elinor Gordon Chinese Export Porcelain, Villanova, Pennsylvania, February 18, 2000 ( accompanied by copy of receipt, label verso); Collection of Karen Shackleford Moore, Baltimore, Maryland. Literature: This Bowl is pictured in Chinese Armorial Porcelain, Volume II by David Sanctuary Howard, p. 367. Note: This bowl is accompanied by letters written by Mrs, Eleanor "Timmy" Munro of Foulis, wife of late clan chieftain Captain Patrick Munro and mother of current chieftain Hector Munro, concerning the history of the clan with regards to their connection to the Poyntz family.
