Description
A sophisticated Italian 19th century game table, exquisitely crafted in richly toned walnut and finely inlaid throughout with elegant neoclassical ornament.
The upper sliding top is beautifully decorated with a central chessboard framed by delicately inlaid playing cards, creating a striking visual statement even when closed. Lift and slide the double top to reveal a cleverly concealed interior fitted with a green felt betting surface and a complete roulette compartment beneath, designed for refined entertaining.
Interior divisions provide organized storage for gaming accessories, while the roulette wheel is discreetly housed in the lower section, accessed by sliding the underside panel. The frieze is adorned with graceful inlaid foliate motifs, echoed on the corners above the turned and fluted legs, lending the piece architectural poise. Both decorative and highly functional, this table embodies the elegance, craftsmanship, and social ritual of 19th century Italian salon furniture.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
