Description
An elegant French Charles X period game table, circa 1820, masterfully crafted in mahogany with fine maple inlay throughout. The closed top is beautifully decorated with a central medallion of scrolling floral marquetry, framed by delicate stringing that emphasizes the crisp rectangular form.
Raised on slender turned and tapered legs with matching inlaid details, the table reflects the refined symmetry and restrained ornamentation characteristic of the Charles X period. The top opens smoothly to reveal a richly appointed green felt playing surface, transforming the piece into a highly functional card or game table while preserving its decorative presence when closed. A single frieze drawer adds practical storage for cards, counters, or writing implements. The contrast between the warm mahogany and lighter maple inlay creates visual depth and sophistication. Ideal for a study, library, or salon, this piece offers both utility and timeless French elegance.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
