Description
A sizable and atmospheric Finnish Mid-Century Modern flush mount from the 1950s, distinguished by its softly illuminated floral diffuser and elegant simplicity. The broad circular form creates an even, welcoming light, while the delicately printed floral decoration adds a subtle organic quality that is characteristic of Scandinavian design from the period. A brass center cap with a decorative finial provides a refined focal point and balances the lightness of the translucent shade.
When illuminated, the floral motifs come alive, creating a warm and inviting ambiance while softly diffusing the light throughout the room. The generous scale of the fixture allows it to function both as a practical source of illumination and as a decorative centerpiece.
While the designer and manufacturer remain unidentified, the lamp belongs to the same family of Finnish lighting produced by manufacturers such as Idman, Itsu, and other notable Finnish makers of the era.
The fixture remains in good original vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. The diffuser shows some discoloration and staining beneath the central brass cap, along with minor variations in color across the shade, all visible in the photographs and typical of a lamp of this age. These characteristics contribute to its authenticity and vintage charm.
Its understated elegance makes it well suited to dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and living spaces where a warm and comfortable atmosphere is desired. Fully functional and ready for installation, this rare flush mount offers a beautiful example of Finnish mid-century lighting and the enduring appeal of Scandinavian modern design. -
