French 19th Century Giltwood Marble-top Wall Console

A dramatic 19th century Neoclassical demilune-console from France, with an exquisite giltwood base supporting an interesting slab of pink marble. The blushing stone is streaked in gray veining throughout patches of pink and beige, carved by hand to a low, routed edge. The apron of the table is carved as a fluted motif that is interrupted by square rosettes over the legs and one high-relief medallion at the center. Two cabriole legs merge a Corinthian column silhouette with S-scrolled acanthus, elegantly tapering down to an ornate stretcher crowned by a rosette. Animal hoof feet complete the very imaginative and visionary efforts of the maker, for this masterpiece of furniture to astound in any interior. Note that the console must be attached to the wall for security, and is perfect for an entryway or hall. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
