2 Postmodern 1980s Memphis Style Uplighter Floor Lamps, Torchiere, Italy, 1980s

A pair of post-modern minimalist floor lamps, made in Italy in the 1980s and very much in the spirit of Memphis Milano design. We have two identical floor lamps available, as well as a matching table lamp in our other listings. The lamps are priced and sold individually.
Exceptionally well-made and solidly constructed, these lamps have a pleasing weight that reflects their high-quality craftsmanship. Each lamp features a flat circular base finished in medium grey and white, from which two stems rise vertically. One stem terminates in an uplight torchiere with a bowl-shaped shade crafted from translucent white plastic, while the second stem curves into a distinctive U-shape and supports a hemispherical shade made of white enameled metal, designed to function as a downlight or reading lamp. The reading light arm can be rotated, and the shade can be tilted to direct the light exactly where desired. The lamps accommodate standard E26/E27 light bulbs and look particularly impressive when fitted with a large globe bulb, which is widely available and easy to source. Both lamps are in very good, well-maintained condition.
