Dutch 18th Century Oak and Ebony Kussenkast

A Dutch Kussenkast cabinet built in the late 1700’s made of solid oak inlaid with ebony veneer. Rich in traditional Dutch architectural details, it features a bold projecting cornice, chamfered corners, hand-carved gargoyles, and lion-mask carvings. Below the cornice are a pair of short, geometric paneled doors that open to a large compartment. Both doors have their own forged iron locks, connecting to the center style and sharing a key. A concealed, large drawer spanning the width of the piece opens in center. Under the drawer are another pair of paneled doors that open using a working lock and key. Inside is a large storage compartment with two fixed shelves measuring 7” deep. The whole is raised on bun feet, very typical of this style. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this antique cabinet is ready for your immediate use. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering the age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
