Description
A striking Mid-Century Modern Mexican water pitcher handcrafted in Mexico during the 1960s, beautifully executed in alpaca silver with copper and brass accents and richly inlaid with crushed lapis lazuli stone. Bold in both form and decoration, this sculptural vessel reflects the era's fascination with pre-Columbian design and the exceptional metalworking traditions for which Mexico became internationally renowned.
The gently tapered cylindrical body is embellished with stylized Mesoamerican and Aztec-inspired motifs, highlighted by shimmering lapis lazuli inlay that contrasts dramatically against the deep blue stone mosaic surface. Geometric brass and copper details frame the composition, while the substantial architectural handle provides a strong modernist silhouette and comfortable grip. The asymmetrical pouring lip adds both functionality and sculptural elegance.
Marked on the underside with the maker's hallmark featuring a triangle enclosing the letter "C", along with "TP-28 / Mexico / Alpaca / Metales," this piece represents the high level of craftsmanship associated with Mexico's celebrated decorative arts workshops during the Mid-Century period.
Equally suitable as a water pitcher, wine carafe, decorative vase, or sculptural tabletop object, this rare example will appeal to collectors of Mexican Modernism, Taxco-style metalwork, Mid-Century barware, and sophisticated interior designers seeking one-of-a-kind decorative accessories.
