Marina B "Onda Beta 2" Diamond Earrings

These Marina B "Onda Beta 2" earrings, dating from circa 1991, are composed of 18K gold and diamonds. The double tapering earclips are pavé-set with organic diamond motifs, approximate total weight 2.50 carats, framed by raised, threaded gold rolling surrounds and incised waves. Paired with Marina B's inventive, spring-mounted Onda necklaces and bracelets, or worn independently, these creative jewels draw inspiration from the dynamic forms and flow of the sea.

First conceived as a necklace in 1978, the jewels ofthe Onda collection were an immediate and ongoing success for Marina, and, in addition to yellow gold and diamonds, they were also produced in gray, blackened gold, and colored stones. According to Marina, it was thanks to their innovative, spring form construction that these jewels of casual and easy glamor sold "like hotcakes."
