Description
A commanding example of 1960s Brazilian modern design, this armchair balances architectural rigor with generous, enveloping comfort. Its broad rectilinear arms frame a subtly reclined backrest and deep, removable seat cushion, creating a sculptural silhouette that feels both substantial and elegantly composed.
The upholstered body is carefully tailored with defined edges and refined piping, emphasizing the chair’s clean geometry without diminishing its softness. Newly upholstered in sophisticated honey-camel mohair, the fabric offers a rich, tactile surface with a gentle luster and warm tonal depth.
Below, a solid Brazilian rosewood base forms an exposed architectural framework, its strong horizontal rails continuing into squared legs. The rosewood has aged beautifully, developing deep reddish-brown tones and expressive natural figuring. Its dark warmth creates a nuanced contrast with the golden camel upholstery, bringing clarity and balance to the composition.
With its low profile, generous proportions, and commanding presence, this Brazilian modern armchair embodies the era’s distinctive union of luxurious materials, disciplined construction, and inviting comfort. -
