Description
A striking pair of Italian mid-century modern table lamps, crafted in Italy during the mid to late 20th century and showcasing beautifully hand-finished glazed ceramic decorated with an abundant grape and vine motif. The sculptural ceramic bodies feature a rounded urn form richly embellished with raised and applied grape clusters and winding vines, creating an organic decorative effect that reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of Italian ceramic artisans. Each lamp rests on a round painted and giltwood base, providing an elegant contrast to the richly decorated ceramic body. The combination of glazed ceramic, sculptural fruit and foliate decoration, and warm giltwood bases gives the pair a distinctive character that works beautifully in both traditional and eclectic interiors, while also complementing mid-century and Mediterranean-inspired décor.
Each lamp measures approximately 29 1/2 inches high to the top of the finial and 12 inches in diameter. The accompanying linen/silk shades measure approximately 18 inches in bottom diameter and 12 inches high, providing a generous scale and balanced proportions for a console, side table, pair of nightstands, living room, library, or bedroom.
Both lamps are in great working condition and have been rewired to U.S. electrical standards. They require no special light bulbs. The lamps retain their attractive decorative character and beautifully executed handmade details, with minor wear consistent with age and use. An impressive and highly decorative pair of Italian ceramic table lamps, combining sculptural form, colorful glazed surfaces, grape and vine ornamentation, and giltwood accents in a particularly charming expression of Italian decorative design. -
