Description
Produced by Móveis Arrendamento in 1960s Brazil, this set of twelve dining chairs brings together precise woodworking, inviting proportions, and the expressive character of caviúna. Its size makes the set especially compelling around a long dining table, where the repeated slatted backs create a graceful rhythm without closing off the room.
Each chair has a three-slat backrest framed by gently shaped uprights. The slats follow a subtle curve, giving the otherwise disciplined silhouette a sense of movement. Straight front legs and low stretchers lend stability, while the open space beneath the seat keeps the construction visually light. Seen together, the chairs reveal the careful balance between repetition and individual craftsmanship that gives a large vintage set its presence.
The professionally restored caviúna frames display lively grain, with flowing veins and shifts between honeyed brown and deeper reddish tones. These variations bring depth to the clean lines and make the wood an active part of the design. We selected olive green velvet for the newly upholstered seats to draw out that warmth: its deep, muted color complements the caviúna without competing with its grain, while the soft pile adds texture and a gentle contrast to the polished frames.
Substantial enough to anchor a dining room yet restrained in profile, the chairs reflect Móveis Arrendamento’s considered approach to Brazilian modern furniture. The complete set offers a cohesive composition that rewards a closer look at each chair’s wood, joinery, and proportions. | Depth: 20 in -
