Kips Bay Designer Show House 2012
Jamie Drake's "We Love Print" library for the 2012 Kips Bay Decorator Show House is a room to retreat to and enjoy turning the pages of real printed books. Each elevation features a new and intriguing material. One side of the room was anchored by deep green painted bookcases and horizontal planks that were loosely inspired by paneled rec rooms from the 1950's and 60's painted in a deep green. The wallpapered walls, which are covered in a grass cloth that moderate the light just enough, take you to the other side of that room that includes a seating area with the focal point of the Andy Harper painting, "Winter Gate." The mirrored walls multiply the stunning river view of the wall opposite that houses a floor-to-ceiling window. To give an air of sophistication to the library, Drake enveloped the ceiling in hammered silver paper that reflects light.
