Old World Inspiration
This new house was traditional in its layout characterized by gracefully flowing rooms and lovely vistas. However, it lacked the architectural detail of the stately predecessors it emulated, so a major transformation began. The space was visually heightened by elaborate moldings, the fireplace was embellished with formal ornament, the walls and ceiling were enriched with Venetian plaster, draperies were created in the spirit of haute couture, and antiques and objet d’art all converged to create an atmosphere of refinement.
