Charlotte Perriand

French, 1903 - 1999

Born in Paris in 1903, Charlotte Perriand attended École de l'Union centrale des Arts décoratifs where Maurice Dufrène was one of her teachers. Perriand designed using chromium plated steel and anodized aluminum during her early years. She worked with Le Corbusier and his cousin, Pierre Jeanneret, until 1937. The three-designed using revolutionary tubular steel furnishings. In the 1940s, Perriand lived in Japan. She is well known for her simple signature three legged stools. Charlotte Perriand furniture chairs stools and designs remain popular worldwide.
