David Rosen

Swedish
David Rosén was a Swedish furniture designer active during the mid-twentieth century, best known for his work with Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) in Stockholm. His designs embody the principles of Scandinavian modernism, emphasizing functionality, craftsmanship, and simplicity. Rosén’s furniture often features clean, architectural lines and elegant proportions, crafted in fine materials such as teak, beech, and mahogany, with subtle details in brass or leather. He designed a range of pieces for NK including desks, cabinets, sideboards, and dining tables that balanced utility with refined aesthetics. His work from the 1940s through the 1960s helped define the understated elegance of Swedish modern design. Although less documented than some of his contemporaries, Rosén’s furniture remains highly collectible, admired for its quality, timeless form, and reflection of postwar Scandinavian ideals of modern living.
