Fratelli Toso

Italian
Antica Vetreria Fratelli Toso (commonly known as Fratelli Toso) was established in 1854 on the island of Murano in Venice by six Toso brothers — Ferdinando, Carlo Francesco Nicolò, Liberato, Angelo, Giovanni and Gregorio — the sons of Pietro Toso. From its early years, the firm focused on artistic blown glass and quickly became renowned for its exceptional use of the murrina technique, in which coloured glass rods are cut and embedded to form intricate patterns. Over the decades, Fratelli Toso built a reputation for collecting some of the finest examples of murrine vases, lampworks and decorative objects, valued for their complex design, master craftsmanship and museum-calibre provenance. The company’s archive, design collaborations with leading artists and long-standing network with collectors and auction houses worldwide further reinforce its status as a cornerstone of Murano’s glassmaking heritage.
