Jean-Michel Frank

French, 1895 - 1941
Born in 1895, French interior designer Jean-Michel Frank was known for his minimalist designs with plain lines and exotic luxurious materials. Jean-Michel was born in Paris the son of a banker. He was the first cousin of Otto Frank and thus a first cousin-once removed of diarist Anne Frank. Educated in Paris, Frank began designing and with time opened his own shop where he completed works for Nelson Rockefeller's lavish Fifth Avenue apartment in 1937. Frank went on to work in Argentina and also completed an iconic collection with Hermes- Paris. Jean-Michel Frank furniture & design remain popular worldwide.
