Salvador Dalí

Spanish, 1904 - 1989
Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was a Spanish surrealist artist known for his vivid, dreamlike paintings and sculptures. He was born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain and showed an early interest in art, studying at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid.

In the 1920s, Dali became involved with the Surrealist movement, a group of artists who sought to explore the world of dreams and the unconscious mind in their art. Dali quickly became one of the movement's leading figures, creating a unique and distinctive style that was characterized by his use of bizarre, otherworldly imagery.

Dali's works often depicted melting clocks, floating objects, and distorted figures, and were intended to challenge traditional ideas of reality and perception. He also became known for his eccentric behavior and outrageous public stunts, which helped to cement his reputation as one of the most colorful and flamboyant artists of the 20th century.

Throughout his career, Dali produced a wide range of works, including paintings, sculptures, prints, and even film projects. He collaborated with a number of other artists and designers, including fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, and was known for his interest in science and technology.

Today, Dali is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century, and his works continue to captivate and inspire audiences around the world.
