Large Pair of 1930's Chinese Porcelain Rooster Figures / Polychrome Decoration

This impressive pair of large Chinese porcelain rooster sculpture dates to the 1930's and features beautifully rendered polychrome decoration against a white porcelain ground. Each rooster is modeled in a natural upright perched pose, with finely articulated features and richly painted plumage in warm, antique white tones. The figures rest on contrasting brown bases that provide a handsome visual foundation and complement their pristine decoration. The lively polychrome palette and sculptural form give the pair a wonderful decorative presence, making them highly versatile for display on a console, mantel, cabinet, entry table, or in a larger collection of Asian decorative arts. Their substantial scale and matching design make them particularly effective displayed together.
Each rooster measures approximately 15 3/4 inches in height and 9 1/2 inches in length. The pair is in great condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs and only minor wear consistent with age and use.
