Description
This striking Modernist Hand-Blown Murano Fluted Glass Vase in Moss & Amber signed Massimo Micheluzzi originates from Italy, circa 2001. Features precise fluted detailing on the outer surface of the vase, formed in two distinct hues of hand-blown murano glass, a Moss green for the body of the vase and the base formed in Amber glass. With a reserved geometric form, this piece is rectangular when viewed from the front and tapers slightly upwards. The mouth of the vase is flat and well polished. At a bold scale this piece is formed in the highest quality materials and techniques, styling well in a wide array of spaces and settings, from Mid-Century Modernist to Contemporary and Minimal Interiors. Signed Massimo Micheluzzi on the undersurface of the Vase. In Excellent Vintage Condition.
Massimo Micheluzzi, born in Venice in 1957, began engaging with glass artistry in the late 1970s as a young photographer at the esteemed Venini glass factory. This pivotal experience eventually shaped his career. After a comprehensive and beneficial apprenticeship in glassblowing, Micheluzzi embarked on his own artistic path in the late 1990s. His work has continually transformed as he experiments with mastering the medium, always staying faithful to the essence of glass.
Collaborating closely with a master glassblower, Micheluzzi employs traditional Murano techniques, personally overseeing every stage of creation. By merging tradition with innovation, he crafts a uniquely modern aesthetic. Deeply influenced by Venice’s vibrant life, architecture, and waterways, his versatile artwork ranges from fluid, organic forms to iridescent transparencies, opaque carved surfaces, intricate color schemes, mosaic patterns, and sculptural designs.
Micheluzzi’s creations have been showcased worldwide and are featured in numerous international museums and collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Corning Museum of Glass, Muse´e Des Arts De´coratifs de Paris, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Museo del Vetro di Murano, and Villa Necchi Campiglio. In 2019, he received the Glass in Venice prize from the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti. - More Information
