Pair of Mid Century vases by the Fulham Pottery Company.

$ 1,500
  • Description
    Pai of decorative unglazed ceramic vases by the Fulham pottery company.
    Fulham Pottery was founded in Fulham by John Dwight in 1672. From the earliest days, the pottery was a significant manufacturer of salt glaze pottery. The site is at the junction of New King's Road and Burlington Road, a short distance from the northern end of Putney Bridge.
    It operated on the same site until 1956, and then until at least the 1980s as a base for studio pottery to be fired. Today, all that remains of the original pottery is one large bottle kiln, "probably 19th-century", which is now a Grade II listed building. Many designs from the Fulham pottery were made famous in the 1930s and onwards by the society florist Constance Fry. Constance Spry was famous for creating the floral displays for Queen Elizabeth 11 wedding.
