Description
Two elongated draped female figures in patinated metal stand back to back, their arms raised to support a shallow alabaster bowl that serves as the shade and gives a warm, diffused light when lit.
The figures rise from a stepped rectangular base in veined portoro marble, grounding the composition and emphasizing the strong linear geometry typical of French Art Deco.
The alabaster bowl is encircled by a decorative checkerboard band, adding a refined graphic accent that echoes the period’s interest in stylized ornament.
This lamp beautifully combines sculpture and lighting, exemplifying Le Faguays’s celebrated work for the Max Le Verrier foundry and his mastery of elegant, elongated forms.
Rewired for contemporary use, it makes a striking centerpiece on a console, sideboard, or desk while providing atmospheric accent lighting.
