Description
Dimensions: 32 ¾” H x 64” W x 25 ½” D
A Swedish, solid pine coffer from the 1700s, this roomy storage trunk has paneled construction graced by hand-painted illustrations in the pilasters depicting imaginative red floral stalks and a small deer, outlined by a red border in striking contrast to the deep green of the case. The heavy lid opens on hand-forged iron hinges to a spacious interior fitted with a large candle box to the left side and a narrow shelf along the back. One key included for the spring-loaded lock that is easy to operate, ensuring a tight fit of the lid. At the base, a scalloped apron carved in delightful swells is the finishing touch to complement the whimsical artwork. Standing over 32” tall, the trunk might double as a console table taking advantage of the comfortable height and convenient but concealed storage inside. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve this cherished antique for future generations. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions. -
