Amazing Iron Birds by Antti Hakkarainen, 1930s

$ 395
  • Description
    I am in love with these precious little birds! Designed and made by Antti Hakkarainen for Taidetakomo Hakkarinenen in the early 1930s, these are incredibly made to show off his metalworking skills. Fantastic patina, one in Verdigris. Use as spoon rests, ashtrays, or however you like - they are wonderfully cute. Priced per bird.
    (3 AVAILABLE, THE VERDIGRIS IS SOLD).

    approx 3" H x 3" D x 6" L

    Antti Hakkarainen, a visionary designer and artisan, rose to prominence as a notable figure in the Finnish design scene during the 1930s. Endowed with a keen eye for aesthetics and a natural passion for craftsmanship, Hakkarainen refined his skills at Helsinki's prestigious School of Applied Arts & created the atelier Taidetakomo A. Hakkarainen. His innovative design approach seamlessly blended modernist principles with a hint of Art Deco influences, giving rise to genuinely unique creations. In 2015 the Nationalmuseum Stockholm acquired one of Antti's iconic tables, securing his place in design history.
