Late 19th Century Thonet Bentwood Wardrobe Stand/ Coat Rack, Austria circa 1895

Sold Sold
  • Description
Absolute rare bentwood coat rack or wardrobe stand from the world famous company of Thonet. This special edition was created in the end of the 19th century around 1895 and was the very first design of the renowed coat rack No. 21. Since this is one of the very first models it makes it a real "hard to get" gem of a this popular bentwood wardrobe stand. Coming in perfect restored original condition, this freestanding Thonet coat rack offers a lot of space providing four wooden and four additional metal coat racks. The beautiful designed bentwood (=beech wood that has been bent under steam and high pressure) shows a lovely stained nutwood look, finished with a traditional hand-polished shellac surface. The ring in the lower third holds your umbrellas. A truly exceptional, rare late 19th century wardrobe stand/ coat rack from the company of Thonet.
