Description
Ceramic vase produced by Wye Pottery, England, circa 1960s. Rectangular columnar form with a narrow cylindrical neck. The body is pierced on opposing sides with a repeating grid of circular perforations, creating a relief surface and openwork structure. Finished in a matte off-white glaze.
The form reflects mid-20th-century British studio pottery, with an emphasis on geometric abstraction and hand-crafted surface treatment. Impressed maker marks to the lower body.
Wye Pottery was a British studio pottery established in 1956 in Clyro, Wales, by potter Adam Dworski. The workshop operated within the postwar British studio pottery movement, producing hand-thrown and hand-built ceramics in small batches. Dworski’s work combined functional forms with sculptural and decorative elements, often reflecting mid-century artistic influences and traditional craftsmanship. The pottery remained active for several decades, contributing to the broader tradition of regional studio ceramics in Britain during the mid-20th century. -
