Description
This stunning contemporary rug is more than just floor covering - it is an art piece. Its simplistic form pays homage to one of the greatest American artists, Josef Albers. The carpet was hand knotted using high quality silk, which ensured its elegant luster and delightful softness of the pile. Inspired by abstract works of Albers, the rug does not attract with complex pattern but with the subtle color play. The luxurious ivory silk has almost silvery gleam to it and the slight difference in the shade of the fibers. Contemporary rugs have numerous faces, from traditional-inspired patterns through abstract forms to minimalistic and geometric designs. They constitute a fascinating bridge between the antiquity and contemporaneity, combining the ancient, centuries-old craft with up-to-date ideas and progressive aesthetic thought. The quality of modern rugs in New York City purchased through trusted dealers does not differ at all from the one of antique and vintage carpets in NYC . Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
