A slightly irregular navy cartouche and arabesque main border perfectly frames the saturated cardinal red field with a finely detailed allover design of petal palmettes, navy vigourously curling split acanthus arabesques, stylized lazy irises and smaller floral elements. Has the look of a classic 17th century carpet. Teal, dark blue-green, pale green, straw and ecru detail tones. Cotton foundation, well-woven. Beautiful carpet in a traditional format. Good condition.
