Antique Belgian Porcelain Covered Centerpiece /Mermaid, Dolphin and Shell Motifs

An exceptional and highly sculptural antique Belgian Blanc de Chine porcelain covered centerpiece, made in Brussels during the 19th century. This impressive and unusually elaborate piece showcases the imaginative sea-inspired ornamentation and exceptional craftsmanship associated with fine Belgian porcelain of the period.
The centerpiece features a substantial rounded body richly adorned with heavily applied marine motifs, including sculptural mermaids serving as handles on either side, delicate applied flowers, and numerous seashell and shell-form decorations throughout. The body is raised on beautifully modeled dolphin-form feet, creating a particularly theatrical and elegant presentation while reinforcing the maritime theme.
The impressive domed cover is equally elaborately decorated, surmounted by finely modeled classical Roman and Grecian goddesses. The opening at the top is finished with refined gilt-gold trim, adding a luxurious contrast to the pure white Blanc de Chine porcelain. The combination of mythological figures, mermaids, dolphins, shells, flowers, and classical ornament creates an exceptionally rich and decorative composition.
Measuring approximately 17 inches high and 15 1/2 inches in diameter across the handles, this is a substantial centerpiece with an impressive presence. It can be displayed as a covered centerpiece on a dining table, sideboard, console, or large entry table, or simply appreciated as a remarkable piece of decorative porcelain and sculpture. The underside retains its original maker's mark and stamped markings, documenting its Belgian origin. The centerpiece is in great antique condition, without cracks or repairs, with minor wear consistent with age and use.
An exquisite and highly collectible example of 19th-century Belgian porcelain, distinguished by its large scale, elaborate figural modeling, maritime symbolism, and exceptional applied decoration.
