Description
This striking Art Deco églomisé tray, crafted in America circa 1935, is a perfect example of the bold graphic design and luxurious craftsmanship that defined the Art Deco era. Featuring geometric detailing rendered in vibrant vermillion red and muted yellow, the tray captures the dynamic visual language of the 1930s.
The technique of églomisé, where reverse painting or gilding is applied on the underside of glass, lends the tray a rich depth and luminous quality. The crisp geometric shapes, with their interplay of sharp angles and bold lines, evoke a sense of modernity and industrial sophistication inherent to Art Deco design.
Completing the piece, sleek chrome handles flank the tray. These streamlined handles not only add functional utility but also reinforce the era’s fascination with innovative materials like chrome and polished metals, which were symbols of progress and elegance.
Perfect for serving refreshments or as a decorative tabletop accent, this tray is a testament to the Art Deco movement's commitment to combining functionality with artistry. Whether admired for its bold color palette, meticulous églomisé craftsmanship, or sculptural chrome detailing, this tray is a timeless collectible that celebrates 1930s American design.
