Description
Striking and highly collectible Emilia Castillo Taxco Mexican Modern silver-plated water pitcher, a bold example of late 20th-century Mexican silversmithing that merges sculptural form with organic materiality.
Handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico, this substantial vessel is formed from copper with a richly hammered silver plate finish, accented by an applied botanical motif inlaid with natural jasper stone. The warm, earthy tones of the stone contrast beautifully against the cool metallic surface, creating a dynamic interplay of color, texture, and light—hallmarks of Emilia Castillo’s celebrated design language.
The elegantly curved handle, wrapped with banded stone detailing, reinforces the piece’s sculptural presence while maintaining functionality. Both decorative and utilitarian, this pitcher works equally well as a statement tabletop object, barware accent, or standalone sculptural vessel in curated interiors.
Stamped and hand-signed to the underside:
“Emilia Castillo / Mexico M.R. / TO-85 / Plateado”
—confirming authenticity and origin within the renowned Castillo family workshop, central to the evolution of Taxco silver design following William Spratling.
A compelling addition for collectors of Mexican Modernism, and an ideal focal piece for interior designers seeking authentic, handcrafted objects with strong visual identity.
