Description
A refined example of Mexican modern design and silversmithing, this elegant serving bowl was designed and handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico by renowned artist Emilia Castillo, a leading figure in the legacy of Los Castillo workshops and daughter of master silversmith Antonio Castillo.
The piece features a beautifully sculpted porcelain body in a soft off-white tone, accented with a delicate and whimsical school of fish motif rendered in pure silver (plata). Each fish is individually applied and subtly raised, creating a dynamic sense of movement across the surface—an artistic nod to marine life and organic form that defines Castillo’s work. The contrast between the matte porcelain and luminous silver detailing offers a sophisticated balance, making this both a functional serving piece and a collectible work of art.
Hand-signed to the underside “Emilia Castillo, Plata, Mexico, 02”, this example embodies the craftsmanship and artistic heritage of Taxco silver design, highly sought after by collectors of Mexican silver, modern decorative arts, and interior design professionals.
Perfect as a centerpiece bowl, decorative tray, or serving dish, it integrates seamlessly into coastal, modern, organic, or curated eclectic interiors.
