Description
A whimsical and highly collectible four-piece silverplated tea service designed by celebrated Mexican artist Emilia Castillo for the legendary Los Castillo Silversmiths of Taxco, Mexico. This sculptural ensemble features Castillo's iconic toucan motif, with each bird meticulously handcrafted from black onyx and white stone inlay, accented by mixed-metal brass and silver beaks. Combining playful artistry with exceptional Taxco silversmithing, the set exemplifies the distinctive style that made Emilia Castillo one of Mexico's most celebrated designers.
The four-piece service includes a creamer pitcher, covered sugar pot, matching silverplated tray, and coordinating ladle. Each piece is hand-hammered and marked "Los Castillo / Taxco / Mexico / TO-80 / Plateado."
The sculptural toucan handles and finials transform an everyday serving set into a functional work of art. The hammered silverplate surfaces beautifully complement the polished stone inlays and mixed-metal accents, creating an elegant centerpiece for a bar, dining table, or curated display. Highly sought after by collectors of Taxco silver, Mexican modernism, and Emilia Castillo, this rare service is equally suitable for entertaining or as a decorative object.
