Description
This stoneware bowl was designed by Marianne Westman and produced in Sweden in 1964. Westman designed many classics for the Swedish ceramic factory Rörstrand, mostly porcelain tableware. Her expressive, small collection of unique, entirely handcrafted stoneware objects from the 1960s is harder to find and this bowl is a striking example of that collection. This wonderfully textured, hand-thrown bowl is finished with a base glaze in an earthy green-gray hue, complemented by a striking dark blue drip effect throughout. The interior of the bowl with a spiral shape.
The vase is marked on the bottom with Rörstrand’s symbol (R), and MW indicating the designer Marianne Westman. Overall in very good, fully original condition with minimal wear. -
